The 40th anniversary of the annual Million Makers fundraising challenge, organised by The Prince’s Trust, inspires entrepreneurial individuals across the country to pitch, progress and profit in the name of charity.
LGT Vestra is proud to announce in its first year in the competition the Firm managed to turn start-up funding of £1,500 into over £50,000 raised. The donations will go towards supporting disadvantaged people in the UK, helping them turn their lives around; three in four people supported by The Prince’s Trust move into work, education or training.
A group of LGT Vestra employees were excited at the prospect of learning new skills outside of their regular day-job, meeting new people across the company and wanting to help The Prince’s Trust charity. Aptly named ‘Team Eminence’ (highlighting LGT Vestra’s 2016 partnership with LGT Bank and the Princely Family of Liechtenstein), the team’s business plan leveraged off small, medium and large ventures to raise funds.
Three overarching themes resonated with the team throughout the competition:
1. Enterprise - Team Eminence enjoyed creating and hosting events, seeing each one through to success. Notable highlights were completion of the Three Peaks, a charity raffle, a golf day and Friday office bacon butties.
2. Volunteering - A Firm-wide effort to participate in the Prince to Prince bike ride challenge, from Buckingham Palace to Vaduz Castle in Liechtenstein significantly boosted Prince’s Trust donations. The opportunity for Team Eminence to volunteer individuals and pitch for the initial £1,500 seed funding promoted dynamic thinking and enhanced individuals’ presentation skills.
3. Generosity – The whole team will agree that meeting the beneficiaries of the donations raised first-hand was both humbling and rewarding. Every individual who contributed in any way to the Million Makers effort – colleagues, clients, friends and family – have undoubtedly helped to open up opportunities and change the lives of young people in the UK.
LGT Vestra’s first year in the competition represents the foundation for a successful partnership with The Prince’s Trust, and we look forward to rising to the Million Makers challenge in the years ahead.
